Shiatsu is a Japanese form of energy-based bodywork, which has its roots in ancient Eastern healing traditions and the holistic conception of life and health based on them. Its aim is to stimulate and support the natural processes of self-healing, well-being and personal growth, and to maintain health by seeking to harmonize a person's vital energy. In a treatment the practitioner will work with that energy, which can involve anything from gentle touch and support to the application of pressure and vigorous stretches and rotations, depending on what is most effective for each person.
In addition to treating a wide range of specific health issues, Shiatsu is deeply relaxing and can enhance one’s overall health and sense of wellbeing. Among the problems for which clients often report benefits, for example, are stress, fatigue, insomnia, mood changes, digestive problems, back/neck/shoulder pain and stiffness, sciatica...
Treatments, which usually last an hour, take place on a padded futon on the floor. Clients remain fully clothed. Allow an hour and a half for the first treatment as we need to gather information about your health background etc. Shorter (15-20 mins) treatments, aimed mainly at neck / shoulder / back relaxation, are also available and are received on a treatment chair.
Clients are advised to wear comfortable loose fitting clothes, preferably of a natural fabric, like cotton. It is also advisable not to drink alcohol or eat a heavy meal before the treatment.
We are qualified shiatsu practitioners and members of the Asociación de Profesionales de Shiatsu en España.
